Complete a subscription checkout flow
This how-to guide walks through the full subscription path — seller setup, buyer checkout, subscription creation, and post-purchase review. Read one-time vs subscription pricing and subscription billing periods first.
If the offer includes a trial, buyers may not be charged immediately. For the trial-to-paid path after the trial ends, see complete a trial-to-paid conversion flow.

Subscription status cheat sheet
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | Buyer started trial; first charge pending | Monitor trial end; see trial conversion flow |
| Active | Subscription billing in good standing | Normal support and renewal flow |
| Overdue | Renewal or post-trial charge failed | See overdue subscriptions |
| Canceled | Buyer or team canceled renewal | Review access policy and cancellation workflow |
| No subscription found | Wrong workspace or buyer email | Widen search; confirm checkout link pointed to subscription offer |
Common mistakes
- Promising monthly renewal on checkout but configuring a yearly plan.
- Hiding renewal date below long marketing sections on mobile.
- Granting lifetime access when the offer is subscription-based.
- Judging campaign revenue before separating trial from paid subscriptions.
