Set up pixels and verify attribution

Pixels help paid ads platforms and analytics tools understand checkout activity. They work best when they are planned together with checkout links and UTM tracking.

What pixels support

AreaPurpose
Paid ads attributionHelps ad platforms connect clicks to checkout or purchase events.
Campaign analysisAdds another signal alongside UTMs and reports.
RetargetingHelps build audiences based on checkout or purchase behavior when supported.
Launch verificationConfirms tracking is ready before traffic scales.

Pixel setup workflow

  1. Confirm the product and checkout are ready.
  2. Open the product pixel or tracking settings.
  3. Add the pixel platform and identifier, such as Facebook pixel when supported.
  4. Save the pixel.
  5. Open the checkout link as a buyer.
  6. Trigger the expected checkout or purchase event.
  7. Check the ads or analytics platform for event activity.
  8. Compare with AtomicPay Campaigns or Financial Overview.

Pixels and UTMs together

ToolWhat it tells you
PixelHelps external platforms attribute events and optimize ads.
UTMHelps AtomicPay reports group traffic by source, medium, campaign, content, and term.
Checkout linkCarries the buyer to the correct product, offer, and tracking path.

Use all three together for campaign launches. Pixel-only tracking can miss internal reporting context, and UTM-only tracking may not give ad platforms the signal they need.

Troubleshooting missing pixel data

  • Pixel ID was added to the wrong product.
  • Checkout link belongs to a different business or product.
  • Browser blockers prevented the event.
  • Checkout page was not opened after the pixel was saved.
  • UTMs were missing or inconsistent.
  • External platform reporting is delayed.

FAQ

Do pixels replace UTMs?

No. Pixels help external platforms, while UTMs help AtomicPay reporting and campaign grouping. Use both when running campaigns.

When should I verify pixel tracking?

Verify after setup and before paid traffic starts. Also re-check after changing checkout pages, links, or campaign structure.

Why does AtomicPay show a sale but the ads platform does not?

Possible causes include browser blocking, pixel setup issues, delayed ads reporting, wrong product setup, or using an untracked link.
